About Granite Statesmen

The Granite Statesmen Barbershop Chorus, members of the Nashua, NH Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, was formed in 1955. Representing many towns and cities in New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Maine and New York these men assemble each Wednesday evening in Nashua to sing and perform in that unique American musical art form of four part a cappella singing known as ‘barbershop.’ In the past 20 years, twelve years the chorus has been Chorus Champions of the Northeastern District, one of sixteen districts throughout the US and Canada. The Chapter prides itself in being active members of the Arts community in the Greater Nashua area and are Charter Members of the Nashua Arts and Humanities Coalition, a group dedicated to the promotion of the performing and visual arts.

The Granite Statesmen perform an Annual Spring Show in the Nashua area; a Singing Valentines fund-raiser; and two Christmas Cabaret shows. For the last several years, the Granite Statesmen have been featured performers at The Groton Memorial Day Remembrance Ceremony and at Nashua’s Downtown Winter Holiday Stroll.

In addition, the Chorus is involved in several regional and national competitions having finished in the Top Twenty-Five of all Barbershop Harmony Society choruses (about 825) in competitions held in Kansas City; Nashville; Portland, OR; Montreal; Louisville; Salt Lake City, Indianapolis, Denver and Nashville. The Chorus has completed four recording albums: “Ain’t That a Kick in the Head”; “Just Add Snow”; “A Grand Old Tradition” and “They Say It’s Wonderful: A Salute to Irving Berlin”.

The Granite Statesmen has a new Music Director, Jamie Saucier. The Chapter invites any interested male singers to join them on a Wednesday evening at the Senior Activity Center, 70 Temple St, Nashua NH at 7:30PM . Please join us at a chapter meeting and rehearsal!
